Product Overview: ERA Deadbolt Multipoint Door Lock

The ERA Deadbolt multipoint door lock is engineered for security and reliability, featuring a robust design with 2 hooks, 1 deadbolt, and 1 latch. This lock is a popular choice in the UK, known for its versatility and ease of identification.

Identifying Your ERA Lock

Recognizing an ERA multipoint door lock can be straightforward, but be cautious of rebranded versions. Many door and window companies use ERA locks, often stamping their faceplates with various brand names like Surelock, Saracen, and others.

A key feature to look for is the holdback snib on the faceplate, typically grey for deadbolt and hook bolt locks, and blue for Vectis locks. However, some brands may have altered the snib color to black or green.

Lock Mechanism and Gearbox Details

Most ERA multipoint locks utilize a split spindle mechanism, simplifying replacements by focusing on one locking function. Note that this does not apply to SureFire locks or specific automatic locking models.

The distinctive square design of ERA gearboxes, measuring 221mm in length, ensures easy identification. They come in 30mm, 35mm, or 45mm backsets, all sharing the same dimensions. The gearboxes can accommodate various locking mechanisms, including classic deadbolts and hook bolts.

Interchangeability and Customization

With the exception of the British Standard Fortress lock and SureFire models, ERA gearboxes are interchangeable. If your client requires a different locking mechanism, we can customize the lock to meet their needs.

Locking Arrangements and Security Features

ERA multipoint locks feature two hook arrangements: a standard hook for tight spaces and a larger security steel hook for enhanced protection. Both hooks are bi-directional, providing superior security by throwing upwards and downwards.

The deadbolt, referred to as a linear bolt by ERA, has an 18mm throw and is designed to pull the door snugly against the frame, making it ideal for timber and composite doors.

Operation Instructions

To lock the door:

  1. Lift the handle upwards to engage the locking points.
  2. Turn the key to secure the locking points and main deadbolt.

To unlock the door:

  1. Turn the key to unlock the system.
  2. Push the handle downwards to disengage the locking points and retract the latch.

Compliance and Testing

This lock meets BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 4 Corrosion Resistance standards (240 hours) and has been endurance tested for 50,000 cycles. It is designed to comply with PAS24:2012 requirements for enhanced security.

Measuring Guidelines

To ensure accurate measurements for your ERA Deadbolt multipoint door lock, follow these guidelines:

Backset Measurement
To measure the backset, take a tape measure and measure the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the lock cylinder. This distance is crucial for ensuring a proper fit.

Centres PZ Measurement
For the PZ measurement, measure from the center of the keyhole to the center of the handle hole. This measurement is essential for aligning the lock correctly with the door handles.

Faceplate Measurement
To measure the faceplate, measure the width and height of the existing faceplate on your door. This will help you select the correct faceplate from the drop-down options.

Operation
The operation of the lock refers to how the locking mechanism engages and disengages. Ensure you select the appropriate operation type from the drop-down menu based on your door's requirements.

By following these measurement guidelines, you can ensure that your ERA Deadbolt multipoint door lock is installed correctly and functions optimally.
