Latch 3 Deadbolts Split Spindle Multipoint Door Lock - Option 2 (top deadbolt to spindle = 680mm)
Product Overview: ERA Deadbolt Multipoint Door Lock
The ERA Deadbolt multipoint door lock is engineered for security and reliability, featuring 3 deadbolts and 1 latch. This lock is a popular choice in the UK, known for its robust design and versatility across various door types.
Identifying Your ERA Lock
Recognizing an ERA multipoint door lock can be straightforward, but be cautious of rebranded versions. Many door and window companies utilize ERA locks, often stamping their faceplates with different brand logos, including Surelock, Saracen, and others.
A key feature to look for is the holdback snib on the faceplate, typically grey for deadbolt and hook bolt locks, and blue for Vectis locks. However, some brands may have altered the snib color to black or green.
Understanding the Mechanism
Most ERA multipoint locks incorporate a split spindle mechanism, simplifying replacements by focusing on a single locking function. Note that this does not apply to SureFire locks or specific automatic locking models.
To accurately identify the lock, it’s advisable to remove it from the door, especially if the brand is unclear.
Distinctive Gearbox Features
ERA gearboxes are uniquely designed with a square shape and no corner cutouts. They measure 221mm in length, with a width determined by the backset plus 18mm. Available backsets include 30mm, 35mm, or 45mm, with all gearboxes sharing the same dimensions.
These gearboxes can accommodate various locking mechanisms, including classic deadbolts and hook bolts. The British Standard Fortress invincible gearbox is notable for its hardened drill plates, enhancing security.
Interchangeability and Customization
With the exception of the British Standard Fortress lock and SureFire models, ERA gearboxes are interchangeable. If your client requires a different locking mechanism, such as a hook lock instead of a deadbolt, we can customize the lock to meet their needs.
