Introducing the Yale YS170 series genuine gearbox, designed specifically for YS170 and Yale Doormaster multipoint locks, available in both 35mm and 45mm backsets. This robust lock features a latch and hook bolt for enhanced security.
The YS170 gearboxes measure 217mm in height and the width is determined by the backset plus an additional 18mm. The latch itself is 28mm high, with a distance of 52mm from the bottom of the latch to the top of the hook, which also measures 28mm high.
For your convenience, the latch reversal instructions for the YS170 lock are clearly printed on a sticker located on the side of the gearbox.

Operation: Lift Lever or Split Spindle
To Lock the Door:
- As you close the door, the latch automatically engages.
- Lift the handle to engage the additional locking points.
- Throw the deadbolt and secure the system by turning the key (note: on some brands, lifting the handle will automatically throw the deadbolt).
To Unlock the Door:
- Unlock the system by turning the key.
- Push the handle downwards to disengage the locking points.
- A further quarter turn of the key will retract the latch.
