Description
Product Overview: Alternative Bathroom Mortice Lock and Handle Set
This innovative bathroom mortice lock and handle set is specifically designed for disabled toilet doors, offering a reliable and user-friendly solution. It serves as a direct replacement for RADAR and NKS locks, featuring a non-handed design that allows for easy reversal of the latch.
Key Features:
-
Latchbolt Operation: Operated by a special NKS key and lever handle, both included in the kit. NKS and RADAR keys are interchangeable, enhancing accessibility.
-
RADAR Key Compatibility: The RADAR key, also known as the NKS key, is a distinctive blue, red, or silver key that grants access to over 10,000 disabled toilets across the UK, ensuring convenience for users.
-
Historical Significance: Established by the Royal Association for Disability and Rehabilitation (now Disability Rights UK), the National Key Scheme (NKS) was introduced in 1981 to provide disabled individuals with independent access to clean and safe toilet facilities.
-
Unique Design: This mortice lock features a silver lock case with specific measurements that distinguish it from other locks. Refer to the line drawing for precise details.
-
Finish Options: Available exclusively in a satin chrome finish, this lock complements various interior designs.
-
Security Features: The deadlatch throws 14mm, and for enhanced security or external locking capabilities, a euro case mortice lock with key and turn euro cylinder is recommended.
-
User-Friendly Operation: The deadlatch locks automatically upon closing the door and can be easily unlocked from the inside using the lever handle. From the outside, it can be accessed with a NKS or RADAR key.
-
Versatile Installation: Suitable for most internal wooden doors, this lock can be used on doors hinged on either side and can open inwards or outwards.
-
Key Supply: Comes with one nickel-plated steel key, with additional keys available upon request. All locks operate on the same key as standard, eliminating the need for keyed alike configurations.
-
Associated Parts: A range of associated parts, including key blanks, is available for purchase to ensure complete compatibility and functionality.
-
Installation Considerations: These locks are not suitable for fire doors. When replacing an existing lock, ensure the new lock fits the door thickness, with a minimum recommended thickness of 44mm.
