Description

KFV Lever Multipoint Door Lock Overview

The KFV Lever multipoint door lock is designed for enhanced security and functionality, featuring a robust configuration of 2 hooks, 1 deadbolt, and 1 latch. This lock is ideal for various door materials, including UPVC, aluminium, timber, and composite.

Key Features

  • Security Design: The lock incorporates a lift lever function with serrations for attaching shootbolts, providing additional security. Note that shootbolts are sold separately.

  • Durable Construction: KFV locks utilize rivets to secure locking points to the strip, ensuring a sturdy and reliable locking mechanism. Recent models feature a stamped KFV logo for easy identification.

  • Identification Tips: To identify a KFV multipoint lock, remove it from the door. Early models have a yellow passivated faceplate and dark grey gearboxes, while newer versions showcase shiny silver faceplates and light grey gearboxes. Matching measurements with outline drawings can aid in identification.

  • Modular Design: New KFV locks are modular, allowing for easier replacements without changing routing positions. However, adjustments may be necessary for keeps or hook boxes if the original routing has limited clearance.

Specifications

  • Gearbox Dimensions: The gearbox has a height of 210mm, with bolt throws of 21mm. The distance from the bottom of the latch to the top of the deadbolt is 56mm, and the spindle to the top of the case measures 85mm.

  • Rivet Connection: Older gearboxes are connected to the faceplate with 1/8" rivets, while newer models use screws for attachment, simplifying the replacement process.

  • Operation Types: KFV locks are available in lift lever or key wind variants. It's important to note that these two types are not interchangeable.

Locking Mechanism

To operate the lock:

  • Locking: Lift the handle to engage the locking points, then turn the key to secure the deadbolt and locking points.

  • Unlocking: Turn the key to unlock, then push the handle down to disengage the locking points and retract the latch.

Latch Reversal Instructions

Depending on the manufacturing date, the latch can be reversed by:

  1. Pushing in the latch and undoing the screw at the back of the lock case, removing the latch, reversing it, and reinserting.

  2. Alternatively, push in the latch and undo the screw on the side of the lock case to remove, reverse, and reinsert.
