Compatibility and Design
This lock is commonly fitted to aluminium bifold doors manufactured by Aluk and Smarts. It includes a pair of hooks equipped with anti-lift pins and a 28mm backset, perfectly suited for the slim profile of these doors. Look for the Yale logo, as well as the Lockmaster logo, stamped on the locks for authenticity.
Versions Available
There are two versions of this lock:
- Standard Version: Top hook positioned 584mm from the top spindle (Part Number: LM2H2824URSTD)
- Long Version: Top hook positioned 720mm from the top spindle (Part Number: LM2H2824URLONG)
Both versions are available in a 28mm backset only and feature a distinctive 24mm x 7mm U-shaped faceplate designed to fit aluminium profiles.
Unique Gearbox Features
Yale Lockmaster bifold gearboxes stand out with their 28mm backset, differing from standard Lockmaster gearboxes, which typically have backsets of 35mm and 45mm. Measuring 202mm high by 45mm wide, these gearboxes are compact and feature bolt hole piercing and grooves for handle fitment. They are secured to faceplates with three screws and are not interchangeable with other Lockmaster locks.
Material and Durability
Constructed from galvanised mild steel, with a cast zinc alloy deadbolt and latch, this lock is built to last. It has been rigorously tested:

- Corrosion Resistance: BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 4 for 240 hours
- Endurance: Tested to 100,000 cycles
Operation Instructions
To lock the door:
- Lift the handle upwards to engage the locking points.
- Turn the key to lock the locking points and main deadbolt (if present).
To unlock the door:
- Turn the key to unlock the system.
- Push the handle downwards to disengage the locking points and retract the latch.
