Description

Lockmaster Standard Multipoint Door Lock

The Lockmaster Standard multipoint door lock is designed for security and durability, featuring:

  • 4 Rollers
  • 2 Hooks
  • 1 Latch
  • 2 Anti Lift Bolts

This model incorporates a hook in the central gearbox instead of a traditional deadbolt, along with two additional anti-lift hooks and four rollers. It's important to note that this version is unsprung and should only be paired with sprung handles. The compatible handles listed below are all sprung.

The Lockmaster range is extensive, offering various lock variants with locking points positioned differently. We stock the most popular versions, which can be adapted for minor alterations, or we can source the exact product you need.

Identifying Lockmaster locks is straightforward once removed from the door, even if the logo isn't visible. Look for upward-throwing locks, often with an anti-lift pin, and a large gearbox measuring 228mm, which are key indicators.

As the UK's best-selling multipoint door lock, Lockmaster was acquired by Yale in the early 2010s, becoming part of a broader range that includes Yale, Millenco, Millenco Mantis, and Lockmaster brands. Some locks may also be found under different branding, such as Milamaster.

Installation Considerations

Be aware that older Lockmaster versions may have different locking point locations, which could necessitate enlarging the routing prep on the door by 40-50mm to accommodate new locations and reposition the keeps.

Lockmaster gearboxes come in 35mm or 45mm backsets, with options for double or single spindle mechanisms. Bifold door versions are available in 25mm and 28mm backsets.

  • Double spindle locks: Feature 62mm and 92mm centres and are unsprung, thus requiring sprung door handles. They can function as lift lever or double spindle nightlatch.
  • Single spindles: Are sprung and can only be used as a lift lever function.

Gearboxes measure 228mm high plus backset +15mm. The latch and deadbolt each measure 30mm high, with a 65mm distance between the bottom of the latch and the top of the deadbolt.

Gearbox Specifications

Gearboxes are fitted to faceplates with three screw holes. The measurements are as follows:

  • Top to middle screw hole: 109mm
  • Middle to bottom screw hole: 109mm

Earlier versions may include a small spindle hole at the top of the case near the latch, used to hold the latch back.

The 45mm version mirrors the 35mm but features an extended latch and deadbolt, along with a cover plate for conversion.

Lockmaster locks may have standard hooks or hooks with an anti-lift pin below them, with hooks always throwing upwards and hook cases measuring 136mm high.

Roller Functionality

Rollers serve to compress and pull the door against the frame, aiding in preventing dust and water ingress. While they don't significantly enhance security, they help prevent door warping by supporting the door's full height, contingent on proper engagement with their keeps. Rollers are typically adjustable by 1mm for optimal weather sealing.

Operation Instructions

To lock the door:

  1. Close the door to engage the latch automatically.
  2. Lift the handle to engage the locking points.
  3. Turn the key to lock the system.

To unlock the door:

  1. Turn the key to unlock the system.
  2. Push the handle down to disengage the locking points.
  3. A quarter turn of the key will retract the latch.

Corrosion Resistance

Tested to BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 4 (240hrs. NSST), Lockmaster locks are built to last. We also stock a range of associated products, including keeps, spindles, handles, and accessories.

Latch Reversal

To reverse the latch, undo the screw(s) (depending on the model), remove the latch, reverse it, and reinsert the screw(s).

This lock is suitable for use as a UPVC or aluminium door lock.
