Kenrick Excalibur Gearboxes: Product Overview
Kenrick Excalibur gearboxes are designed for versatility and ease of use, available in two backset options: 35mm and 45mm. You can choose between a single or double spindle (follower) gearbox, with centers at either 92mm or 62mm and 92mm. Both followers are sprung, allowing for the use of either sprung or unsprung door handles.
Dimensions and Features
- Overall Height: 225mm
- Mounting: Fixed to the faceplate with 3 screw holes
- Bolt-Through Handle Fixing: A hole located 21mm from the top of the case for added convenience
- Top Spindle Measurement: 128mm from the bottom of the gearbox for easy handle identification
When measuring the backset, remember to allow 2-3mm for the faceplate. For instance, a 35mm backset gearbox will measure approximately 32mm when not fixed to the strip.
Convenience Features
The Kenrick Excalibur multipoint door gearboxes include a small plastic snib on the faceplate, which can hold the latch back to prevent accidental lockouts.
Compatibility and Comparison
While Kenrick Excalibur gearboxes share similarities with the Fullex XL series and Ingenious gearboxes, it's important to note that both Ingenious and Fullex XL models measure 230mm, making them 5mm larger than the Kenrick Excalibur.

Operation Instructions
To Lock the Door:
- Close the door to automatically engage the latch.
- Lift the handle to engage additional locking points.
- Throw the deadbolt and secure the system by turning the key (note: on some brands, lifting the handle will throw the deadbolt).
To Unlock the Door:
- Turn the key to unlock the system.
- Push the handle down to disengage the locking points.
- A further quarter turn of the key will retract the latch.
