The Ingenious Duplex multipoint door lock is a robust security solution designed for composite doors, featuring a unique configuration of 5 hooks and 1 latch. With a 20mm faceplate, this lock ensures enhanced protection for your property.
Identification Tips
Identifying an Ingenious lock is straightforward, but be cautious of potential pitfalls. If the lock remains installed, check for the brand stamped on the faceplate. Some models may also display the Secured By Design logo. Look for a small black snib below the latch for further confirmation. However, note that other brands like ERA and Kenrick may also have similar features, so it's best to remove the lock for accurate identification.
Gearbox Features
Ingenious gearboxes are characterized by a distinctive double spindle arrangement with centers at 62mm and 92mm. Both followers are unsprung, making it advisable to use sprung door furniture. The gearbox measures 230mm in height and is secured to the faceplate with three screw holes, spaced at 110mm and 108mm.
Locking Mechanism
The Ingenious lock operates with a double spindle mechanism.
To Lock the Door:
- Close the door to automatically engage the latch.
- Lift the handle to engage the locking points.
- Turn the key to secure the system.
To Unlock the Door:
- Turn the key to unlock the system.
- Push the handle down to disengage the locking points.
- A quarter turn of the key will retract the latch.
Latch Reversal Instructions
To reverse the latch, simply undo the screw in the latch, remove it, reverse its position, and reinsert it before replacing the screws.
