Description

Product Overview: Legge 641 / 761 Mortice Sash Lock

The Legge 641 / 761 Value British Standard mortice sash lock is a top choice for retrofit applications, boasting compact dimensions of just 64mm x 108mm (or 77mm x 108mm for the 3" version). Its small size often translates to reduced carpentry work and time savings during installation.

Security Features

Designed with hardened steel plates, the Legge BS3621 mortice lock offers robust resistance against drilling and hacksawing, ensuring high security. Meeting the rigorous standards of British Standard BS3621:2007, this lock features:

  • 5 levers for enhanced security
  • Anti-drill and anti-saw mechanisms
  • A deadbolt that throws at least 20mm for positive deadlocking

Design and Compatibility

Available in polished brass or satin chrome finishes, this mortice lock is suitable for doors up to 54mm thick. If you need it for a thicker door, we can provide extra-long keys upon request. The lock is non-handed, making it versatile for left or right-hinged doors that open inwards or outwards.

Keying Options

Each lock comes with 2 standard keys, and additional keys can be cut as needed. For those requiring multiple locks to operate with the same key, our in-house locksmith team can key them alike, typically dispatching the same day.

Insurance Compliance

Many insurance companies require locks on external doors to comply with BS3621 or BS8621. Always verify with your insurance provider to ensure compliance. The Legge mortice lock proudly displays the BSI kitemark on its faceplate, confirming its adherence to these standards.

Installation and Use

Mortice locks are commonly fitted to wooden doors but can also be used with steel, aluminum, and composite doors. They are locked from both sides with a key, engaging the deadbolt. For new timber doors, we recommend using Souber’s DBB morticer for efficient installation.

Fire Rating

These locks are fire-rated for 1 hour on timber and composite doors, and 4 hours on metal doors, ensuring safety in case of emergencies.

Conclusion

Legge mortice locks strike an excellent balance between quality and affordability, making them a staple in the UK market. With their compact design and high-security features, they are ideal for both residential and commercial applications.
