Product Information

The Willenhall 3500 series mortice hook lock is designed specifically for sliding doors, featuring a robust 4 lever mechanism to operate the bottom hook. This model comes complete with a pair of stylish handles, previously branded as Century.

These locks stand out with their unique flush fit handles, which are recessed to ensure smooth sliding without obstruction. The lock is key-operated, providing added security.

In line with other mortice locks, the grey lock case is distinctive, with unique measurements that set it apart. Please refer to the accompanying line drawing for precise details.

Available exclusively in a satin chrome finish, this lock utilizes a hook mechanism instead of a traditional deadbolt, making it ideal for sliding doors.

The hookbolt operates similarly to a deadbolt, engaging with the strike to secure the door against unauthorized sliding. The top hook automatically throws into place and can be easily retracted using the lever handle from either side, while the bottom hook can be locked with a key from both inside and outside.

Included with the lock is a matching striking plate and a pair of recessed handles.

This lock is suitable for most internal sliding wooden doors and is non-handed, making installation straightforward.

Each lock comes with two steel keys as standard, and additional keys can be ordered by selecting key blanks and the desired quantity from the associated products on this page.

Please note that these locks cannot be keyed alike, and we offer a variety of associated parts, including key blanks, available for selection from the associated products.

These locks are not suitable for fire doors.

Willenhall locks are a well-established brand in the UK, known for their unique offerings that are hard to find elsewhere.

Regular latches and deadbolts are ineffective on sliding doors, as they can easily slide out of the strike. Instead, sliding door locks utilize an expanding claw or hook to secure the door, preventing it from being opened once engaged. Mortice lever locks, often fitted to wooden doors, can also be used in steel, aluminum, and composite doors, providing versatility.

There are various types of lever locks available in the UK. Dead locks (mortice dead locks) are key-operated only, while sash locks (mortice sash locks) feature both a deadbolt and a latch operated by a handle. Both types throw the deadbolt into a strike plate, with sash locks also accommodating a sprung-loaded reversible latch.

Lever mortice deadlocks are suitable for both internal and external doors, but we recommend using a British Standard BS3621 product for external doors to ensure maximum security. Always check with the homeowner's insurer regarding requirements for residential and commercial properties.

When replacing an existing lever mortice lock, be aware that the new lock may be larger due to security upgrades or design changes. The lock hole can typically be enlarged with a hammer and chisel, which may also apply to strikes.

For fitting a lever mortice lock to new timber doors, we recommend using Souber’s DBB morticer for efficient results. You can find the DBB1 morticer

Ensure your door is thick enough to accommodate the mortice lock; the Master Locksmith Association suggests a minimum thickness of 44mm.

A lever mortice lock secures a door by throwing a bolt into a metal keep or strike, preventing it from being opened. The bolt can be locked or unlocked from either side using a key. If the key cuts align with the levers inside the lock, the user can turn the key to engage or disengage the bolt. Using the wrong key will misalign the levers, rendering the lock inoperable.

Duffells offers a vast selection of mortice locks at various security levels, with many available for delivery within 24 hours. We provide express delivery options alongside standard delivery, and you can find detailed delivery information on our extensive product range.
