Product Information
Introducing the Union 2126 bathroom mortice deadlock, a high-quality solution designed specifically for residential, internal wooden bathroom doors. This unique deadlock features no latch, ensuring a secure and straightforward locking mechanism.
The lock boasts a sleek grey case and has distinct measurements that set it apart from other mortice locks. For precise specifications, please refer to the accompanying line drawing.
Available exclusively in a satin chrome finish, the deadbolt extends 12.5mm. For enhanced security or the option to lock the bathroom door from the outside, we recommend considering a euro case mortice lock equipped with a key and turn euro cylinder.
From the inside, the deadbolt is easily operated with a thumb turn, while the outside can be accessed using the emergency release feature.
The deadbolt follower measures 5mm, and each lock comes with a striking plate that matches its finish.
This lock is versatile, suitable for most internal wooden doors, and is non-handed, making it compatible with doors that hinge left or right and open inwards or outwards.
Please note that these locks do not utilize keys and cannot be keyed alike.
We also offer a variety of associated parts, including bathroom turns, releases, and lever bathroom furniture in various finishes. You can select the products you need from the associated items on this page.
Important Considerations
These locks are not suitable for fire doors.
Union has been a trusted name in high-quality, British-designed locks and door hardware for over 180 years. Their commitment to exceptional quality and design has made them a leader in the industry, evolving from a family business in 1840 to a global brand. Their manufacturing facility in Willenhall, a historic center for lock-making, continues to uphold this legacy.
Bathroom door locks serve a straightforward purpose: to secure bathroom doors. They typically operate using a bathroom turn and release mechanism, allowing for easy locking from the inside and emergency access from the outside with a coin or flat screwdriver.
Mortice lever locks, often found in wooden doors, can also be used in steel, aluminum, and composite doors. These locks are designed to be morticed within the door, providing a clean and secure fit.
In the UK, various types of lever locks are available. Mortice deadlocks are key-operated, while sash locks combine a deadbolt with a latch operated by a handle. For external doors, we recommend British Standard BS3621 products for maximum security, and it's wise to check with homeowners' insurers regarding lock requirements.
Lever mortice locks are also common for internal doors, typically featuring three levers for lower security needs.
When replacing an existing mortice lock, be aware that the new lock may be larger due to enhanced security features or design changes. Adjustments to the door may be necessary, and we recommend using Souber’s DBB morticer for efficient installation.
Ensure your door is thick enough to accommodate the mortice lock, with a minimum thickness of 44mm recommended by the Master Locksmith Association.
A lever mortice lock secures a door by throwing a bolt into a metal keep or strike, preventing unauthorized access. The lock can be operated from either side with a key, and the bolt retracts when the correct key aligns with the internal levers.
